Sea Freight
The most economical way to Shipping to Qatar from the UK is via sea freight. However, it is much slower than air freight, so it is highly advised you allow sufficient time for your goods to arrive.
Two options when using sea freight are:
Full Container Load (FCL);
Sole use is the standard form of shipping freight for those who have a large number of goods to send If you have fragile goods this can be a deciding factor in favour of FCL Shipping. For international shipping to Qatar that involves the entire home belongings, it is most likely that you will need either a 20ft or 40ft steel shipping container
In most cases, this means that we pack your belongings at your premises and reserve the final day for loading. The container is positioned at your residence on the last day and all of the items are carefully loaded directly into the container. The container is sealed and transported to the port for loading onto the shipping vessel until the final port of destination in Qatar
The most popular sizes for full container load are:
The maximum payload mass for a 20’ container is approx. 22 tonnes: and for 40’, approx. 27 tonnes
20 foot: 20’ long x 8’ wide x 8 ½’ high external (c. 6.1m x 2.4m x 2.6m) Capacity 33 cu/ m
40 foot: 40’ long x 8’ wide x 8 ½’ high external (c. 12.2m x 2.4m x 2.6m) Capacity 67 cu /m
Less Than Container Load (LCL)
Ideal for those that have few items to send to Qatar maybe 5 or 6 boxes and few furniture, LCL Shipping’ or ‘Groupage Shipping’ – literally grouping your goods with others that need to take the same route, to make up full containers. Often can be the most cost-effective option Within them are loaded pallets of goods If you have more than 5 or 6 cartons to ship then they are best palletised anyway. Contact us today our team of experts will be able to advise on the best method of shipment to Qatar.

General custom’s information for QATAR
AIR SHIPMENT IMPORT TO QATAR
- The owner of the goods must be in Qatar during the arrival of the shipment and customs clearance as air shipment can be cleared with the options below only.
- Normal customs clearance takes approximately 3 to 5 working days for Air shipment
- The airport is giving a complimentary period of 72 hours from shipment arrival only.
- The airport storage fee for days 4 and 5 is QAR 1.00 per kilo per day and QAR 2.00 per kg per day onwards.
- All shipments are X-ray inspected by the customs. In case the shipment is too large to go through the scanner, a physical inspection will occur. Update Feb 2020: For all air import shipments, upon arrival, the shipment will undergo customs scanning. Doha Customs will then decide (their discretion) if the cargo requires a “green or red stamp” for clearance. The same is reflected in the cargo arrival notice RED STAMP (as of today about 75% of the shipments), it means the shipment will go through an additional physical inspection with cartons being opened. After that, our customs clearance representative will directly prepare the customs documents and clear the shipment with the authorization letter, original QID / passport of the assignee. Delivery will take place pursuant to this process. For the GREEN STAMP (no physical inspection of the cargo), the assignee will have to come to the airport and meet up with Doha customs for clearance approval. Our Move Management team can liaise with the assignee to arrange a customs visit (accompanied & assisted there by one of our customs clearance representatives) either in the morning or afternoon. The assignee will have to bring an authorization letter & original QID / passport to be presented at the counter.
